Product description
The solenoid valve is the core control element of the pneumatic system, which controls the flow direction and on-off of the compressed air through the electrical signal, so as to drive the linear or rotating motion of the pneumatic actuator (such as the cylinder and valve). Its essence is the "electronic control switch" of the pneumatic actuator to realize the precise action control of the automation system.
Cooperative working principle
Control link:
PLC/ controller → Solenoid valve electrical signal → compressed air channel switching → pneumatic actuator action (on/off/adjust).
Typical process:
The solenoid valve gets power, switches the gas path, and the compressed air enters the actuator chamber;
The pressure pushes the piston/diaphragm, resulting in mechanical displacement;
After power failure, the solenoid valve is reset, the gas is discharged, and the actuator returns to the initial position (spring return or reverse gas supply).
Core structure design
Solenoid valve section
Valve body type:
Two-position tee (2/3) : Control single acting cylinder (single intake + exhaust).
Two-position five-way (2/5) : Control double acting cylinders (double intake + double exhaust).
Driving mode:
Direct action: small flow direct drive (fast response, suitable for high-frequency operation).
Pilot-operated: air pressure assisted switching (large flow, high pressure scenarios).
Special design:
Explosion-proof coils (ATEX certified) for flammable environments;
Low power consumption (0.5W~1W) to extend battery life;
Manual emergency button (can be forced to change the gas path in case of power failure).
Matching with the actuator
Interface standard: Meets ISO 15407 or NFPA specifications to ensure fast gas connection.
Flow matching: The valve CV value must meet the actuator speed requirements.
Selection and maintenance points
Key to selection
Actuator type: single acting (spring return required) or double acting (double gas path control);
Operating frequency: Select direct acting solenoid valve in high frequency scenes;
Environmental requirements: explosion-proof, anti-corrosion, temperature adaptability (-30ºC~80ºC);
Energy saving requirements: Low power consumption or pulse holding to reduce energy consumption.
Common faults and solutions
Coil burn: check voltage stability to avoid overload;
Spool stuck: regularly clean the air source (add filter), use dry air;
Air leakage: Replace the seal ring (NBR/FKM material), check the valve body wear.
Maintenance suggestion
Monthly check solenoid valve response sensitivity;
Quarterly cleaning gas through the filter;
Replace vulnerable seals annually.
